Outdoor summer workouts
We love the benefits of workout classes--enforced stretching, lots of arm work and catching up with our yogi and aqua spin friends.
But right now it?s just too lovely outside to be confined to a studio. Here are the two alfresco fitness sessions we?re hitting up:
??Yoga at the Zoo Every time we walk into Jeanne Gang?s fabulous turtle-shell pavilion in Lincoln Park, we get a feeling of peace and delight that can only mean one thing: It?s the perfect place for yoga. Join us at the free intro class this weekend (Saturday at 9 a.m., Sunday at 10 a.m.) or register for adult classes on Wednesday evenings and weekends throughout the season. Just bring your mat and water. $20 per class, packages available; 2200 N. Cannon Dr.; lpzoo.org
Millennium Park Workouts Starting on Saturday, June 8, work out for free in front of the Pritzker Pavilion every weekend through September 7. Each Saturday?s schedule features 45-minute classes taught by a new lineup of local instructors, and the roster includes all our favorites: yoga, Tai Chi, Zumba and Pilates. Not sure your belly dance hip shimmy is up to snuff? They don?t call it the Great Lawn for nothing--stand near the back to perfect your moves. 201 E. Randolph St.; millenniumpark.org
