After that winter, it’s going to take more than a ray of sunshine to restore our souls: A dose of inspiration is what we really need to see the light.
That’s why we’re signing up for Lillstreet Art Center’s new one-day creative retreats at Lillstreet Loft, a just-opened private event venue located a half block north of the main center in Ravenswood.
Lillstreet is known for its adult ceramics classes, metalsmithing and more, and the retreats--which cost about $95 including a fresh, healthful lunch provided by nearby Real Kitchen--begin with guided meditation and gentle hatha/vinyasa yoga sessions to limber up your mind and body.
An intuitive painting retreat on April 21 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) will focus on experimental, mixed-media techniques. Registration for a summer’s worth of retreats begins on April 22; look for an en plein air workshop (June 22), Asian ink painting (June 30 and July 20) and travel photography (July 13)--none of which require prior experience.
After immersing yourself in the creative process for the day, you’ll leave feeling relaxed, restored and holding a masterpiece to show off at home.
