Running season is nearly upon us, and if you aren?t one of the nuts who logs miles on the lakefront during a Friday-night blizzard, now?s the time to start training again. Sign up for a short spring race to help you reclaim your runner?s high.
Arbor Day 10K Crave a break from the city? This serene April 21 race covers rolling terrain on the east side of the Morton Arboretum?s 1,700-acre property. 5K for Earth Day This laid-back April 27 run in Humboldt Park ends at the historic boathouse with music and shopping at the Green Market. The Color Run Start clean and finish messy at this 5K on June 16, where speed takes a backseat to fun. Racers wear white and are given bags of powdered-sugar-like ?color? to throw around as they sprint. The result: Everyone ends up looking like a graffiti-esque work of art.
