Thomas + Henry might be the only hair-salon-slash-housewares-boutique in Chicago, but the new spot in Old Town wears the badge well.
Formerly the site of the hair salon Tousle, the revamped space is now devoted to gift and home items. Come March, however, Jostes will offer haircuts and color in a private room at the back of the shop.
Jostes and his partner, Paul Lechlinski, are also the owners of Andersonville's Room Service, and the style and humor of the Thomas + Henry selection proves they know what works.
Don't miss the darkly funny ?Good Grief? cocktail glasses (two for $40), the vintage reproduction clocks by English company Newgate ($60 to $125) and colorful felt coasters by Gräf & Lantz ($30 for six). Graphic-design types will geek out over Pantone folding chairs in a range of eye-popping colors ($95 each).
As for the hair salon, it might be tough to get an appointment in Jostes?s one styling chair--previous clients are first on the list--but if you need a break from the chaos of a bustling salon environment, it?s worth the wait.
