A boutique turns to the sewing machine
We can’t help but wonder why more shop owners don’t take their expertise to the sketchpad--after all, they know what sells.
Eva Anderson and Robyn Anderson Baldenegro--sisters-in-law and the owners of Wicker Park’s Le Dress--have spent the past four years bringing us the kinds of pretty, versatile frocks that are the true mainstays of our wardrobes.
Now the pair have launched their first-ever clothing line, Denella. The collection is starting small--with just three dresses and two tops--but will expand to 12 pieces for spring.
The colors are rich and the necklines are cut to flatter; among this season's looks are a soft color-blocked knit dress ($258), a silk dolman-sleeve dress with a V-neck back and gold button detail ($248), a flouncy sleeveless tiered dress ($182), a teal silk short-sleeved blouse ($142) and a silk tank with wide tuxedo stripes down the sides ($108).
Anderson and Baldenegro were inspired by the most popular pieces in their inventory, and Denella’s chic fabrics and impressive fits make it clear the newly minted designers have real shoppers in mind.
