Now raising some serious eyebrows in Old Town: Arch Apothecary, a beauty boutique that first opened in Rockford and now has a sister location on Wells Street.
The pretty space is adorned with a giant chandelier and a cheerful, floral-print cash wrap. Near the front windows, makeup artists diligently pluck and shape eyebrows at a counter where services include the signature Brow Arch ($20), eyebrow and eyelash tints ($15 and $20) and individual lash applications ($15 to $25.)
Elsewhere, shelves are neatly stacked with high-end grooming goods. There are Lime Crime?s brightly pigmented lipsticks ($16) and Apple Pie in a Bar ($10) from the Illinois-based Oregon Soap Shoppe. Manly best-sellers from Truefitt and Hill include the sandalwood aftershave balm ($45); there are also candles, nail polishes and Noodle & Boo products for mothers-to-be.
To test out the store?s luxury skin-care lines (Natura Bissé and By Terry are both in stock), book a 30-minute customized facial for $40. In a private back room, a licensed aesthetician will apply creams, gels and other potions geared toward perfecting your personal skin type.
Soon, Arch will tend to your tresses with a style bar offering blowouts for $35. After all, you?re more than just a pretty face.
