No matter how much younger the Lollapalooza crowd seems to get every August, we’re always hooked the moment we see the music lineup--then it’s off to find that concert-chic wardrobe yet again.
This year there’s a new place to track down festival gear: The first ever off-site LollaShop, a downtown pop-up selling official merchandise augmented with goods from outside designers and festival sponsors, opens tomorrow at 11 a.m. and continues through Monday, August 6.
There you can buy the official Lollapalooza T-shirt by Gap and much more: Sony, Baggu, Goorin Bros., Rad and Refined, JammyPack and Threadless are among the vendors showcasing their goods in the shop, where an adjoining rock lounge and performance space are offering a preview of the Thompson Hotel, slated to open in Chicago in 2013.
During the actual festival dates, there will be poster and T-shirt signings with festival artists three times daily, plus yoga classes, listening parties and performances. Fans who missed out on passes to the sold-out festival can enter LollaLottery drawings taking place at the shop tomorrow, July 30 and August 2 at 7 p.m. (Sign-ups start at 5 p.m.; you must be present to win.)
A pre-fest shopping spree? Sounds like a grown-up way to get into the Lolla spirit.
