If there was one product that stopped us in our tracks at the Guerrilla Truck Show art-and-design event earlier this month, it was the Plant Lamp from Weetu, a local architecture and branding firm that?s all about thinking up the next cool thing.
The diamond-shaped lamp is the first in Weetu?s planned collection of flat-packed (for easy shipping), dual-function, snap-together home-decor items. Debuting at national lighting and design showrooms later this summer, the small version ($260) and the new large version (three feet long from nose to tail, $560) are available on Weetu?s website or by appointment at the company's West Town showroom. They?d be a showstopper of a lighting concept for your next house party.
We?re also smitten with an earlier Weetu invention, the Weetree Wall, which is the prettiest vertical-gardening device we?ve seen. The walls ($25 to $45 per liner foot) are made from commercial-grade materials, and when you order one, a Weetu designer will visit your house to make sure your wall is customized to your environment, lighting and water source.
We can?t wait to see what this Chicago company dreams up next.
