Beyond the Aria
See ya, nosebleeds.
Todd Rosenberg

Ever since you played that nun in your high school production of South Pacific, you?ve been dying to get back onstage. (What? You rock a mean habit.)

Now your onstage dream can become a reality--literally.??Nab a ticket to Beyond the Aria, a new concert series from Lyric Opera this season, and you?ll score a seat smack-dab in the center of the magnificent Pritzker Pavilion.

Attendees access the Pritzker Pavilion via the adjacent Harris Theater lobby, where staffers await to direct you through backstage corridors rarely seen by the general public. Once you reach the stage, you?ll find your seat at a cabaret table or highboy near a lone piano (starting at $400 for a pair of seats) or a little farther back, in the choral risers (single $99 tickets). ??

The stage is shielded from the weather by a huge glass ?curtain? that gives you clear views out over the Millennium Park Great Lawn, twinkling nighttime skyscrapers and the Modern Wing. ?

But what of the show itself? Expect young, vibrant singers from Lyric?s artist-development program performing an unscripted, no-intermission lineup of Broadway, jazz and American songbook tunes. It?s what they'd sing on a night off from Mozart, and ??you?ll be humming along all week.

Beyond the Aria continues on November 10, January 14 and March 10; Harris Theater, 205 E. Randolph Dr.; 312-334-7777 or harristheaterchicago.org
