A Lincoln Park bar with golf simulators
How into golf are you really? Do you love the look of skorts and visors? Does the thought of winter snow have you drifting into exotic fantasies about putters?
Fear not: You can still hit some balls, no matter how bad the weather, at Fairways Chicago.
Fairways Chicago is a Lincoln Park bar where you can tee up for a virtual round, thanks to four HD video simulators--all while noshing and drinking, of course.
Here’s how it works: Sign up for an hour session ($50 on weekdays, $70 on weekends) and then prepare to swing a physical club (provided) toward screens as you “play” one of the many real, world-class golf courses programmed into the game--think Pebble Beach or St. Andrews.
The ball goes a certain distance and direction based on how you strike it, and the game keeps score for the people in your group. Play with up to four teammates, just like you do outside.
Meanwhile, those who believe there’s more to life than golf can watch from the sidelines over barbecue chicken flatbread ($10) and a cold ’Merica Mule (American Harvest vodka, fresh lime, ginger beer, $10).
After all, a “good slice” means different things to different people. ?
