You have a friend who does triathlons. You?ve seen her swimming laps near Ohio Street Beach. In a wet suit. At dawn.
But not every wannabe triathlete has to be so intense about it.
Live Grit, a new triathlon store in the West Loop, aims to help beginners set realistic goals--and even offers up goods for those not planning to embark upon a 70.3-mile workout.
The store stocks everything from swim goggles to bike helmets. There?s even the Castelli Rosso Corsa cycling bra ($60), with just the right amount of support and breathability for pedaling up and down the lakefront.
And beyond the gear, Live Grit is creating a community of everyday athletes. It hosts group runs, swims and rides every week--plus clinics that will teach you how to fix a flat bike tire or how to eat before a race. For laid-back athletes, there are often cocktail parties on Saturday afternoons.??
If you?ve never done a triathlon and want to see what it?s all about, sign up for the shop?s free Tri It for Fun training program (email email@example.com).
