10 Things We’re Looking Forward to in September
From TV shows to latte upgrades
Summer may be (unofficially) over, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. If you need some inspiration on how to fill your time this month, look no further. Here are ten things happening in September that you most definitely need to check out. You’re welcome.
Ann Patchett’s “Commonwealth”
Best-selling author Ann Patchett is back at it with her newest novel, Commonwealth, due out September 13. It tells a story that spans five decades of two families whose lives are completely altered after an unexpected romantic encounter. Grab a coffee, take a seat and prepare to get sucked in.
Apple’s iPhone 7
Apple fans (and anyone with an available upgrade), rejoice! The new iPhone 7 is expected to make its debut this month. Rumor has it there will be new colors (like midnight blue) and a longer battery life (fingers crossed) and the removal of the headphone jack (say what?). Add your name to the preorder list, stat.
Netflix’s “Amanda Knox” Documentary
Back in 2007, you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing the name Amanda Knox. In case you forgot, Knox spent nearly four years in an Italian prison before being acquitted for the murder of her college roommate Meredith Kercher. To find out what really happened, watch the Netflix original documentary, to be released on September 30, which will “explore the notorious case that made headlines around the world.” The next Making a Murderer?
Global Citizen Festival
If you’re lucky enough to earn tickets to this year’s Global Citizen Festival (and by “lucky” we mean kudos to you for volunteering your time in advance), then you’re in for one heck of a show. Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Selena Gomez, Major Lazer and Metallica are headlining the concert on September 24 in NYC’s Central Park. Oh, and it’s hosted by Chelsea Handler, Seth Meyers, Neil Patrick Harris and more. Yay, charity.
Breaking Out the Boots
After three months of open-toed strappy sandals, we cannot wait to step into some stacked-heel boots (mostly because the pedicure bills were skyrocketing). Not sure you can pull them off quite yet? Try sporting a pair with your favorite sundress. Yes, it’s that easy.

Living Proof’s Full Dry Volume Blast
Ladies with flat, fine hair, this is for you. Starting this month, Sephora and Ulta will be carrying Living Proof’s new Full Dry Volume Blast spray that gives you serious volume and lightweight texture. How? Its patent-pending formula creates lasting grip and texture between every strand. Simply shake the can to activate the ingredients and spray onto dry hair. Voilà! We’ll take five cans, please.
Starbucks Introduces Almondmilk
Attention: You can now order your beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte with almond milk. Starbucks recently announced the introduction to its list of nondairy alternatives and will begin serving their in-house “Almondmilk” on September 6. Why? Because nearly 100,000 requests for it were submitted by Starbucks mega fans to the company’s suggestion platform. Score.
Brooklinen’s limited-edition quilted blankets are an absolute must for nights when you need a little something extra cozy. They are 100 percent cotton, super-soft and completely handmade in India using an ancient weaving method. You might have a really hard time leaving your bed. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
“The Light Between Oceans” Film
Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender (aka the ultimate power couple) are starring in the movie adaptation of the best-selling novel The Light Between Oceans. If you haven’t already read the book, which has over 10,000 reviews on Amazon, you can experience the literary phenomenon in theaters now.
Well, the dog days of summer are finally behind us. And while we’re not saying good-bye to our frosé just yet (if ever), we are welcoming our cozy knits back from storage and into our ensembles. This season’s MVP is the classic cable-knit poncho, which makes us feel as if we’re lying under the blankets binge-watching Stranger Things on Netflix.
