The New #2 Movie on Netflix Is Pretty Much the Italian Version of ‘Taken’

If you loved Taken, we highly recommend you watch Netflix’s all-new thriller, The Beast.

The Italian film just premiered on the streaming service last week, and it’s already shot up to the number-two spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched movies. (It’s currently ranked behind The Christmas Chronicles 2 and ahead of Hillbilly Elegy, The Grinch and Hard Kill.)

The Beast is basically the Italian version of Taken. It follows a father named Leonida Riva (Fabrizio Gifuni), who, like to Liam Neeson’s character in Taken, discovers his daughter has been kidnapped.

Leonida uses his former training as a Special Forces veteran to pursue the abductors, all while trying to escape the police, who are wrongly convinced that he’s a suspect in his own daughter’s kidnapping.

Will Leonida be able to stop the captors before it’s too late (as predicted)? Or will he give Neeson a run for his money? We’ll let you be the judge.

The Beast was directed by Ludovico Di Martino (SKAM Italia), who also wrote the screenplay alongside Claudia De Angelis (Weekend) and Nicola Ravera (Come to My Home). In addition to Gifuni, the movie also stars Lino Musella (Simonetti), Monica Piseddu (Angela), Andrea Pennacchi (Mozart), Emanuele Linfatti (Mattia) and Giada Gagliardi (Teresa).

Oh, and did we mention The Beast is dubbed in English, so you don’t have to worry about subtitles? *Adds to streaming queue*
