This Leonardo DiCaprio Thriller Just Hit Netflix’s Top 10 (& It’ll Keep You Guessing ’Til the End)

As an avid Netflix watcher, we’re always looking for more content to stream. Lucky for us, every month, the streaming platform continues to gift us with new TV shows and films that we can’t wait to add to our queue. The latest on our list? A Leonardo DiCaprio psychological thriller that’s already made its way into Netflix’s top ten movies list.

Called Shutter Island, the 2010 flick has officially landed the number eight spot on the most-watched list. Based on the novel of the same name by American author Dennis Lehane, the film tells the story of a United States Marshal whose visions of his past get in the way of his latest investigation into a missing woman at a secluded hospital for the criminally insane.

In short, the film takes place in 1954 and follows Teddy Daniels, a U.S. Marshall recently assigned (along with his new partner, Chuck Aule) to a case involving a missing patient at Shutter Island’s Ashecliffe Hospital in the Boston Harbor. However, as he tries to uncover the truth about the missing woman, he starts to question his real purpose for being summoned to the island and even begins to question those around him as well as his own sanity.

In addition to DiCaprio, Shutter Island also stars Mark Ruffalo (13 Going on 30), Ben Kingsley (Night Hunter), Michelle Williams (Dawson’s Creek), Max von Sydow (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close), Emily Mortimer (Mary Poppins Returns), Patricia Clarkson (Easy A), John Caroll Lynch (Crazy, Stupid Love) and Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs).
