You season three has been on Netflix for just under two weeks, and we've already managed to binge-watch it (twice). And while we’re still trying to make sense of that twist ending, we’re also wondering what’s to come for this season's new faces, including Sherry.
Turns out, the actress behind the judgmental mommy blogger—Shalita Grant—has a pretty impressive resume. So, who is Shalita Grant? Keep reading for everything we know.
The 33-year-old actor was born in Maryland and spent the majority of her childhood between Baltimore and Petersburg, Virginia. Following high school, she attended the Juilliard School in New York (on a full scholarship), where she studied theater and graduated in 2010.
The series followers a New York City bookkeeper whose crushes quickly turn into obsessions.
Per Netflix’s season three synopsis, “Joe and Love, now married and raising their baby, have moved to the balmy Northern California enclave of Madre Linda, where they’re surrounded by privileged tech entrepreneurs, judgmental mommy bloggers and Insta-famous biohackers. Joe is committed to his new role as a husband and dad but fears Love’s lethal impulsiveness. And then there’s his heart. Could the woman he’s been searching for all this time live right next door? Breaking out of a cage in a basement is one thing. But the prison of a picture-perfect marriage to a woman who’s wise to your tricks? Well, that’ll prove a much more complicated escape.”
The judgmental mommy blogger mentioned above? That’s Grant’s character Sherry, who immediately plays a key role from episode one. However, she’s not the most well-liked character on the season, and Grant knows it. She previously told Bustle, “I cannot wait for people to be like, ‘I hated you.’”
Before her time on the small screen, Grant starred in a handful of off-Broadway and Broadway shows, including the Tony-winning play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Her first official television role was playing lawyer Cassidy Diamond on season three of HBO’s Search Party. Grant is probably most recognized for her three-year stint as Sonja Percy on NCIS: New Orleans.
According to Refinery29, Grant began developing her own line of products after her hair became damaged from working on NCIS.
“When I left that show, I had a bald spot in the center of my head. By the end of season three, I was losing [so much] hair. So I put on my little cosmetic chemistry hat, and I did some digging and created the Four Naturals Treatment, which is now patent-pending and dermatologically tested," she told the outlet. “On You, my hair was heat straightened every day for six months. And I left that show with more hair than I had when I showed up. It was powerful to hand my white hairstylist my products and give her the instructions and have her do something that we know is a damaging thing to do. And I didn't experience that damage."
