Loved ‘Get Out’? Then You Need to Watch This Haunting New Film on Netflix

*Warning: Minor spoilers ahead*

Spooky season isn't over until Netflix says it is, and with its recent release of the horror-thriller His House, it looks like we'll be hiding under our blankets (and contemplating humanity) well into 2021. From writer/director Remi Weekes comes a supernatural horror film guaranteed to keep you glued to the screen...while covering your eyes at the scary parts. The show's official synopsis sets the scene: "As a young couple from war-torn South Sudan seeks asylum and a fresh start in England, they’re tormented by a sinister force living in their new home." But that's not their only challenge...

1. What is His House about?

His House follows Bol Majur and his wife, Rial. After escaping the violence in their home country of South Sudan, the Majur's tragic story begins when they lose their only daughter on the boat ride over. As refugees, the couple is detained and then released as asylum seekers in a nondescript English city. Their white caseworker sends them to a dilapidated government-owned home that's run-down and infested with pests. "A palace," the caseworker calls it. Forced to "fit in" in a place they know nothing about, the Majur's do everything they can to get by unnoticed. But after a series of supernatural events, Rial soon realizes that they might not be the only tenants in their new home...

2. Is there a trailer?

You betcha. As the "witch" within the walls continues to torture our protagonists, Rial begs Bol to go back to South Sudan. "How quickly you forget everything we went through to get here," he warns as scenes of war, violence, desperation and drowning play out on the screen. "We are not going back."

3. Who's in it?

His House stars British actors Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù (Gangs of London), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country), Matt Smith (The Crown) and Malaika Wakoli-Abigaba.
