We've been buzzing about Greta Gerwig’s Barbie for over a year, and since the film premiered in theaters this past July, the fantasy comedy has broken record after record. But, besides dominating at the box office, Barbie has also grabbed headlines because of its star, Margot Robbie. Not only did the Mattel role make her the highest-paid actress in Hollywood in 2022, but it turns out she could end up making $50 million for her turn as Barbara Millicent Roberts.

Thanks to a new report from Variety, we learned that Robbie will likely be given a check for $50 mill, due to her salary and box office bonuses.

Barbie is now the highest grossing film directed solely by a woman and it is currently the second-highest grossing film for Warner Bros., behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

Robbie, who also served as a producer on Barbie, isn't the only one who will be getting an extra paycheck. Variety reports that writer/director Greta Gerwig will also likely receive a bonus.

Back in December 2022, it was reported that Robbie got paid an impressive $12.5 million for her part as Stereotypical Barbie, the same amount that her co-star, Ryan Gosling, received (which, unfortunately, is still a rarity in Hollywood). According to a ranking released by Variety, this salary made Robbie the highest paid actress of 2022.

Right behind Robbie was Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, who got an impressive $10 million from Netflix for Enola Holmes 2, the sequel to her 2020 mystery film about Sherlock Holmes's teenage sister. Brown was tied with Sandra Bullock (who starred in the rom-com The Lost City) and Zendaya (who stars in an upcoming Luca Guadagnino movie Challengers), who each also earned $10 million.

They were followed by Lady Gaga, who got $10M for signing on as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux and Jennifer Lopez, who made $8.5M for Marry Me. Then, there's Gal Gadot, who earned $5M for Death on the Nile, followed by Emily Blunt, who received $4M for her part in Christopher Nolan's epic, Oppenheimer (which has also been doing quite well at the box office). Rounding out the list was Jamie Lee Curtis, who got $3.5M for Halloween Ends, and Anya-Taylor Joy, who was paid $1.8M for Furiosa.

However, according to Variety, the top-paid Hollywood actor of 2022 was Tom Cruise, who got a staggering $100 million for Top Gun: Maverick (and that doesn't even include what he made from box office sales). Second to Cruise was Will Smith, who received $35M for Emancipation, followed by Leonardo DiCaprio, who was given $30M for Killers of the Flower Moon.

Currently, Barbie has made over $1.2 billion at the box office, making it one of the top 25 highest-grossing films of all time. It’s also close to surpassing The Super Mario Bros. Movie as the highest-grossing film of 2023.

Get your bag, Margot.
