To our wonderful New York readers:

Please join us on February 2, when we’ll be gathering to toast the life of the venerable writer Liz Smith, who passed away last November, at age 94.

Known as the “Grande Dame of Dish,” she built a prolific career that included stints at Cosmopolitan, the New York Daily News and the Washington Post, during which she reported on A-listers from Elizabeth Taylor to Frank Sinatra to Madonna. She was also an early investor and general fairy godmother here at PureWow. (So yeah, you could say we’re giant fans.)

We’ll be paying our respects next Friday at noon the Majestic Theatre in Manhattan and the memorial will feature an incredible roster of speakers--Bruce Willis, Barry Diller and Lesley Stahl, to name a few. The event (in one of Broadway’s most stunning venues) is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

We hope you’ll come help to honor a woman who both entertained us and inspired us to always take the high road.
