"In the G.I. Joe comics, Snake Eyes is one of those characters that's had kind of a mysterious past," Golding explains in the video. "He was famously known as the silent ninja." Now, the Snake Eyes film will offer an unexplored narrative by following the character's story before he lost his voice.
"I'm super excited for people to see what we're building. This is literally a stepping stone into the G.I. Joe universe," Golding adds.
Alongside Golding, the film will star Andrew Koji as Tommy/Storm Shadow, Úrsula Corberó as The Baroness, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Haruka Abe as Akiko, Takehiro Hira as Kenta, Iko Uwais as Hard Master and Peter Mensah as Blind Master.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins was directed by German filmmaker Robert Schwentke, who directed the final two installments in the Divergent film series, as well as the 2009 romantic drama The Time Traveler's Wife. The screenplay was written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, based on a story by Spiliotopoulos. The movie will be released to theaters on July 23.
We're so excited to see Golding in action mode.
