Will ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Bring Back Lexie Grey? Here’s Proof That It Ain’t Gonna Happen

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

If you’re anything like me, you’re still bitter about Lexie Grey’s (Chyler Leigh) death in season eight of Grey’s Anatomy. (#NeverForget) Although season 17 has featured the return of Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) and George O’Malley (T. R. Knight), I don’t recommend holding your breath for a Lexie cameo.

Unfortunately, there is zero evidence—I repeat, zero evidence—to support Lexie making a surprise cameo in Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) dream. This is a pretty big deal, since fans already predicted that O’Malley would join Shepherd as a returning character.

Rumors started circulating shortly after Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff revealed that Dr. Shepherd’s cameo would be the first of many. This prompted fans to scour the internet for clues, which led them to IMDB. The website has been updated to list “2020” as the most recent appearance date for Dempsey, Knight, Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang) and Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres). Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Leigh.

Although her character departed the show in season eight, IMDB documented her latest appearance as “2019.” The 2019 reference is likely the result of a flashback scene, since Grey’s Anatomy is famous for showing montages of Meredith’s life.

IMDB or no IMDB, I’m still crossing my fingers for a Lexie comeback. Grey’s Anatomy airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
