Another Big Name Has Joined the Cast of ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 2 (Hint: He Starred in ‘Lord of the Rings’)

Attention all Yellowjackets fans: another big Hollywood star has joined the cast of season two. (Hint: he’s been in The Lord of the Rings film series.)

Last week, Showtime confirmed Elijah Wood will make a guest appearance in the second season. The actor will play the role of Walter, who is described as a civilian that will “challenge Misty in ways she won’t see coming,” according to the official press release.

This news comes after the show added two other names to the ensemble cast. Just last week, it was revealed that Obi-Wan Kenobi actress Simone Kessell will play the older version of Lottie, and Courtney Eaton will continue to play the younger version.

Additionally, the network recently announced Six Feet Under star Lauren Ambrose will portray the adult version of Van. (FYI, the teenage version of the character is played by Liv Hewson.)

Yellowjackets tells the story of a high school soccer team who experiences a plane crash and must fight to survive in the Ontario wilderness. The series revolves around their journey for survival before they’re rescued 19 months later. The storyline features a time jump and follows the group as teenagers and adults.

Wood, Ambrose and Kessell will join the adult version of the cast, including Melanie Lynskey (Shauna), Christina Ricci (Misty), Juliette Lewis (Natalie) and Tawny Cypress (Taissa). There is no official release date for Yellowjackets season two, but production is expected to kick off later this month.

We are more than excited to see Wood’s cameo in Yellowjackets season two.
