Doja Cat used to date a musician named Johnny Utah, also known as Jawny. And according to one of their Instagram Lives, they started their romance back in 2019.

"I found his music video for ‘Honeypie,’ and I didn’t like the song,” Doja Cat said. “But I liked the way you moved. I don’t know. It was your pants. I was like, ‘Oh, I like your pants.’ I went to his YouTube video and [then] commented on his Instagram, and I was like, ‘I love you, baby.' And he said ‘I love you.’ And then he commented on one of my pictures and said something clever and funny.”

Jawny explained that Doja Cat wasn’t following him at the time, but in response, he sent her a pretty bold message. It read, “Hey girl, I just showed this pic to my little cousin, and I told him that we’re together. Don’t make me look like a liar now. He looks up to me.”

And the rest is history.

Following their split, Doja Cat took to Instagram Live to explain that she and her ex are no longer together but still on good terms. She said, “Everything is OK. I unfollowed my ex-boyfriend and everything is OK. We have been cool. Nothing weird going on. No drama, or weird sh*t going on. Sh*t just didn't work out.”

The dating rumors started in 2021, when Bree Runway shared dinner pics with Doja Cat and tweeted, “My hot date @DojaCat,” with a ring emoji. The fellow rapper also shared a photo of herself kissing Doja Cat on the cheek on IG, captioning the post, “You know I’m crazy about my woman! Love you, Doja Cat. Best night ever."

Meanwhile, Doja Cat posted a flirty tweet calling Runway her girlfriend. So, fans quickly put two and two together and assumed that they were in a romantic relationship. However, since the close friends never addressed the rumors, it seems more likely that the posts were all in good fun.

Thanks to one mysterious Instagram Live from February 2022, fans were convinced that Doja Cat was secretly dating someone new. The rapper immediately ended the recording after a random guy was seen walking into her room. And at the time, fans were channeling their inner detective to figure out his identity.
