Much like the Pirelli calendar, Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit edition was something we were aware of but not really interested in. Pages full of mostly naked or naked models "wearing" body paint just didn't appeal to us.
That was, until the reveal of this year's three covers. Particularly the one featuring Ashley Graham, a curvy model, designer and body activist whose cover marks an insanely important moment in fashion.
The size 16 Graham was featured in an ad in the magazine last year, but she makes her rookie debut with a seriously stunning (and unretouched) cover that she dedicated to "every woman who felt like she wasn't beautiful enough because of her size." Queen.
The other two covers feature sample-size model Hailey Clauson and boxer-slash-badass Ronda Rousey, another promising sign of changing body ideals. We hope it's just a preview of what's to come.
