*This* Is the New #1 Show on Netflix Only Hours After Releasing Season 2

Cheer has officially returned to Netflix, and it’s back with a vengeance.

The streaming service just released the show’s highly anticipated second season yesterday. And within a matter of hours, the series has already claimed the number one spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched shows. (It’s currently ranked ahead of Cobra Kai, Stay Close, The Witcher, Emily in Paris, Hype House and Queer Eye.)

The series follows the Navarro College Bulldogs Cheer Team as they face injuries and setbacks, all while trying to learn new tricks. The cheerleaders are led by coach Monica Aldama, who expects perfection from the athletes.

Similar to season one, the new episodes follow the team as they work toward one goal: to regain their title at the National Cheerleading Championship. The show also offers a deeper look at Navarro’s rivals, Trinity Valley Community College. And yes, season two does address the sexual allegations that were filed against Jerry Harris. (There’s even an episode that’s titled “Jerry.”)

As you recall, Cheer originally premiered on Netflix back in 2020. The first season was an instant hit—it even attracted viewers with minimal cheerleading knowledge. While most viewers watched to see who won the championship, others were fascinated by how much skill is required to make the team.

So, will the Navarro College Bulldogs win the championship…again? Guess you’ll have to tune in to find out.
