10 Celebrities Who Divorced and Then Re-Married Each Other
Second time’s the charm?
It seems like scores of celebrities get married and divorced every day, but only a few belong to a smaller group who got divorced and remarried to the same person. Here, five famous couples who gave love another shot.
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton
Hollywood glamour incarnate, Taylor and Burton’s tumultuous love affair started on the set of Cleopatra in 1962. They married for the first time in 1964, divorcing ten years later. Less than a year after their divorce was finalized, though, they gave the whole marriage thing another shot…but then divorced for the second and final time in 1976.
Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson
After tying the knot in 1976 (they started dating when Griffith was just 14), the duo divorced after a brief six months. Thirteen years later, in 1989, they remarried, had daughter Dakota and re-divorced in 1994. After a third (but brief) rekindling of their relationship a few months later, they split for good in the spring of 1995.
Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon
Anderson, you know; Salomon, you may not. The poker player, whose claim to fame seems to be a long line of high-profile girlfriends (including Paris Hilton and Shannen Doherty), married the Baywatch babe in 2007. They divorced before the year was up, only to get remarried in 2014 (and divorced again in 2015).
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera
Though they’re probably rolling in their graves for being named on a list that also includes Pamela Anderson, the artistic pair has earned their spot. Married from 1929 to 1939, they broke things off, but made it official again in 1940. They stayed together until Kahlo’s death in 1954, making their second union the most successful on the list.
Barbara Walters and Merv Adelson
After meeting on a blind date, Walters and TV executive Adelson (who produced some of the biggest hits of the ’70s and '80s, like Knott’s Landing) were married from 1981 to 1984, and then again from 1986 to 1992.
