5 Hidden Gems in the Hamptons You Have to Visit

From Main Beach to EMP Summerhouse, the Hamptons in the summer are full of life. (That’s a nice way of saying crawling with people—not that we’re complaining.) But want to know a few of the places that make the East End truly one of a kind? These under-the-radar spots will make you fall in love with the area all over again.

Your Itinerary for the Perfect Weekend on the North Fork

Bridge Gardens

Hidden in plain sight, the Peconic Land Trust’s Bridge Garden is an oasis of tranquility. The garden full of flowers, herbs and trees covers more than five acres right in the heart of Bridgehampton. Go and embrace your inner flower girl.

36 Mitchells Lane, Bridgehampton; 631-537-7440 or peconiclandtrust.org

Nibi Mtk

Shopping at NIBI MTK is akin to raiding an older sister’s closet…if your sister were an impossibly stylish beach bum. From original designer swimwear to breezy kimono cover-ups, the store has everything you need for the Montauk cool-girl uniform.

21 Oceanview Terrace, Montauk; 917-371-3039 or nibimtk.com

Breadzilla Bakery

Don’t let the reviews scare you off: Yes, the owner isn’t exactly the warm and fuzzy type, but hey, it’s part of the charm. Pick something off the daily handwritten menu—like Thai clam chowder or a blackened salmon sandwich—and you’ll understand why the locals love it.

84 Wainscott NW Rd., Wainscott; 631-537-0955 or breadzilla.com

Caroline Gerard Park

This tiny park probably won’t show up on your GPS, but if you drive down Gerard Drive, you’ll find a quiet spot with a rocky shore perfect for a romantic picnic, a peaceful kayaking spot or simply unwinding. And as for the name: In the 1930s, an East Setauket man allowed the town of East Hampton to build a road through his property—as long as the town named a park after his wife, Caroline. (Aww.)

271 Gerard Dr., East Hampton

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club

Summer goal: Become friends with a member of the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Founded in 1891, Shinnecock Hills is one of the world’s oldest golf courses. It has also played host to the U.S. Open a whopping four times (and will do so again in 2018). But there’s only one way to get a glimpse of the gorgeous green, and that’s by getting someone with a coveted membership to bring you as a guest.

200 Tuckahoe Rd., Southampton; 631-283-1310 or shinnecockhillsgolfclub.org
