The good news: last week Mattel released a body-positive, African-American Barbie doll in the likeness of super-awesome ballerina Misty Copeland. (You know, the first black female principal dancer at the ABT.) And little girls everywhere lost their minds with excitement.
The bad news: The red-leotard-clad doll sold out almost immediately, and then started appearing on Ebay for upwards of $200.
But now for more good news! Mattel has announced they’ll be producing a new batch of Mistys, set to ship on May 19 and available now for preorder--for the far more reasonable price of $29.99.
Buy one now for all the 8-year-old future feminists in your life. (Or, you know, that one dude who’s just really into Barbies.)
