Bookworms Rejoice: A New Anne Of Green Gables Series Is Coming to Netflix
CBC

Some books are best left as books. Others, like L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables can and should be adapted and re-adapated frequently.

Which is why we’re so psyched that Netflix will soon carry a new series, Anne, based on the classic 1908 book.

The 8-episode season will initially air on Canada’s CBC network (just like the terrific 1985 mini-series did) and will feature lovable orphan Anne as she’s sent to live with two older siblings who had intended to adopt a boy.

Apparently the series will honor the original text, but will also add new adventures and explore complicated themes like sexism, bullying and prejudice.

The show won’t hit Netflix until 2017, so you’ve got plenty of time to read (or reread) all about Anne’s exploits.
