Here in New York, a girl’s got plenty of options for getting her tap-back on: Cyc, Swerve, Revolve, Peloton and, of course, SoulCycle and Flywheel.
But if you’re a diehard rider at the latter two, you have the added bonus of booking a class on the go. Now that SoulCycle just released its long-awaited app, let’s see how it stacks up against the one Flywheel released a year ago. Peep our scorecard.
Buzz When Flywheel’s app launched, it relied on trusty word of mouth. But SoulCycle used some pretty uncomfortable religious themes in a trying-too-hard-to-go-viral video. Winner: Flywheel
Design Flywheel’s photo-less setup is pretty bare-bones. SoulCycle’s, on the other hand, has full instructor bios, pictures and general prettiness. Winner: SoulCycle
Functionality Flywheel fanatics can track their performance progress (everything from calories burned to distance covered). SoulCycle lets you search by instructor to book classes--a huge plus for loyal riders. Winner: Tie
Extras SoulCycle’s app has instructor playlists, swag for sale and the ability to set reminders to sign up for your favorite classes. Flywheel, sadly, lacks flair. Winner: SoulCycle
The Verdict In this battle, SoulCycle takes the gluten-, dairy- and sugar-free cake. Flywheel’s app brilliantly gets the job done, but when it comes to user experience, SoulCycle’s goes to the next level.
