You love Zumba--or, dare we say, Jazzercise?--for burning calories and blowing off steam.
But if you really want to learn the moves you saw in that new Drake video, go take classes from the choreographers who invented them.
The Los Angeles-based Millennium Dance Complex is famous for turning out the best dancers in the biz--the ones who end up on tour with Usher and Pink--and the company just opened a Chicago outpost in the West Loop.
Anyone can sign up for Millennium’s beginner and advanced classes in hip-hop, ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance--even one called “Heels,” where you’ll learn how to rule the floor in your stilettos.
The instructors are flown in from the West Coast to teach Chicago students each week. If you’re trying, say, a beginner hip-hop class, we suggest you add a little flair to your workout wear to punch up the experience. (A high side ponytail and a pair of splashy leggings should do the trick.)
Worried you won’t be able to keep up? Don’t sweat it, says studio owner Nicole Spagnolo. Millennium’s whole M.O. is to be a welcoming place for anyone who simply wants to get her groove on.
