Nothing beats a great yoga teacher or a killer cardio class to get us moving.
But sometimes studio schedules, commutes, long hours at the office and a host of other factors get in the way of our best efforts to make it to a fitness studio during the week.
When you take your workout online, however, you can do it anywhere, anytime. Here are two sites that do mobile fitness right:
FitnessGlo This pretty, fresh-looking site is designed to make working out simple. Rather than getting hung up on complicated number-tracking--which can lead to you skipping out on exercise altogether--its laid-back M.O. is “find a workout, do the workout.” FitnessGlo has eight professional teachers who demonstrate moves in super-clear cardio, yoga, dance, core and barre videos, and you can pick your difficulty level (from “Getting Started” to “Good to Glo”) and workout duration (anywhere from five minutes to an hour). $12 a month for unlimited access; start with a free 15-day trial
Grokker This site takes a full-spectrum approach to wellness, with thousands of yoga, meditation, fitness and cooking videos, plus forums where you can ask questions and read other members’ insights and feedback on their health journeys. You can jump into a group fitness class at appointed times each day or do the workouts on your own, and you can tailor your Grokker experience by tracking your calories, “loving” your favorite videos and saving others to watch later. Free to join; premium access starts at $10 per month
