Color Bar—Like Drybar but for Color—Is Finally in San Francisco
Okay, so we’re a little vain and we can’t stand to have roots or grays peeking through. But booking a hair appointment months in advance and then spending half the day in the salon just doesn’t fit our busy schedule.
Enter Color Bar, the brand-new hair salon from at-home color kit professionals Madison Reed. For reasonable prices and far less time than you’d spend in a traditional salon, MR’s team of colorists tackles routine gray coverage and color touch-ups head-on.
For only $35, you can get a 2 week demi-permanent fix for your roots, and you'll be in and out in 35 minutes. Other services include permanent, single-process root touch ups for $60 (and only one hour and 20 minutes of your time), a $35 color-reviving gloss (good to refresh faded tones between colorings) or the whole shebang—roots + gloss + blowout for $120.
Another highlight (see what we did there?) is that Madison Reed color products leave out bad stuff, like ammonia, parabens and phthalates, and include good stuff like argan oil, keratin and ginseng root, so that frequent visits aren’t harsh on your hair. Plus, you can book appointments online.
It’s a big step up from the $7 box at the drugstore (we’ve all done that before) and much more accessible than a $200 professional balayage treatment.
We’ll see you at the salon.
