We're in the throes of winer, which means that many of us are over here looking rather ghostly. After all, achieving beachy, bronzed skin during these dark and dreary months is no easy feat—particularly since UV rays from the sun and tanning beds can cause serious skin damage and premature aging. And since spray-tanning sessions at the salon can often leave you looking like an Oompa Loompa, the options for us pale day dwellers can be in short supply. Luckily, the queen of morning talk shows (and golden skin) herself, Kelly Ripa, has a reliable self-tanning recommendation (and if her beautiful bronze is any indicators of its powers, we highly suggest you take her advice).
Kelly Ripa Uses *This* Self-Tanning Product to Get That Perfect Bronze...Even in the Dead of Winter
In a newly resurfaced clip from last year, The Live with Kelly and Ryan star went on record to enlighten the public about her newest tanning discovery: Tan-Luxe The Face Illuminating Self-Tan Drops. “This product is kind of remarkable,” she enthusiastically told co-host Ryan Seacrest. “It stains nothing! ... It’s literally like applying moisturizer, but you really have to be mindful of [the way you apply it].”
These cruelty-free drops reportedly not only work wonders for the face in terms of color, but also via their anti-aging benefits thanks to their blend of youth-boosting collagen, nourishing vitamin E and soothing aloe vera. (Don’t forget the delicious raspberry scent!) You can also choose between light/medium and medium/dark, according to your skin tone.
The company recommends starting with a minimum of two and a maximum of 12 drops, depending on the depth of the shade you’re going for. To use it, simply mix it with your favorite lotion or oil and distribute it evenly on your face for natural-looking results that’ll make you look like you just got back from a tropical resort. It sure beats stealing your 18-year-old's self-tanner! (Ripa's other go-to trick.)
Be sure not to load up on too much at once, however! As the All My Children star revealed from personal experience, "If you start putting all these things on at once, you can develop tans on parts of your body moreso than other parts."
