We love a smart topper as much as the next gal does, but the stringy, staticky mess it often leaves behind makes us a tad reluctant to wear one. Luckily, you no longer have to sacrifice style (and warmth) in the name of good hair. Here, five steps to making sure your mane always stays fresh underneath your hats.
The first rule of protecting yourself from hat hair: Always start with completely dry strands. If you put a hat on wet (or even slightly damp) hair, it will dry in that matted-down position.
We’re not saying that it should be slipping off your noggin, but a little extra give at the band will help prevent those annoying indentations in your hair and preserve volume up top.
The longer you wear it, the more it will leave its mark. When you get to wherever it is you needed to go, give your strands a little breather.
