Whether or not you live and die by PSLs, there’s no denying the myriad other ways to use fall’s favorite fruit. Like, for example, in your skin-care routine. We checked in with celebrity aesthetician Joanna Vargas for her recipe for a brightening pumpkin mask you can easily make yourself. Here’s the (delightfully smelling) deal.
What you need: Cooked pumpkin, cooked sweet potato, honey, Greek yogurt and cinnamon.
What you do: Mash the pumpkin and sweet potato in a bowl, then add the rest of the ingredients and mix until well combined. With your hands, apply the mask to damp skin, leave on for ten minutes, then wipe off with a warm washcloth.
Why it works: Pumpkin is rich in vitamins A, C and E, as well as alpha hydroxy acids, which speed up cell turnover. All of these combine to brighten and smooth skin.
What you should do next: Make a pie with the leftover pumpkin and justify eating three slices because maybe its skin-smoothing wonders also work from the inside?
