Admit it: Your nails look flawless after a gel mani, but under the shellac, they’re starting to look like something out of a horror movie. Van Court, an all-natural, ethical new nail salon is coming to the rescue with a mani/pedi treatment that aims to restore--not destroy--your nails and hands. It might just be the healthiest nail salon in NYC.
What’s so healthy about it? Van Court uses only five-free to nine-free polishes (AKA no toxic chemicals). Instead of soaking your hands in water (which causes chipping), your skin is dry brushed to increase circulation and treated with nourishing, all-natural exfoliants and moisturizers--kind of like a facial. There’s also a state-of-the-art ventilation system, so you’ll never get a whiff of polish or remover.
And the employees are treated ethically? Yep. Technicians work six-to-eight-hour shifts and are paid fair wages. The salon’s creative director, Jessica Washick, is also the lead nail tech.
Wait, but are there gels? Nope, no gels, shellac or acrylics here (although they’ll gladly remove your old ones and bring your nails back to their healthy, natural state).
How much does this nail oasis cost? Pampering manicure treatments start at $35, with additional services available for sun damage, peeling nails and dry skin. Sorry gels, we’re going au naturel.
