Jared Leto’s flowing mane has been our go-to magazine clipping for the perfect (read: natural) ombré ever since we saw that epic Oscar speech.
Well, turns out, we can now toss that magazine tear.
Leto’s own hair wizard, Chase Kusero, and stylist, Aaron Grenia, have recently opened their first NYC outpost of IGK Salon.
Tucked away on the lobby level of the Dream Downtown hotel, IGK’s quiet, five-seat salon has a laid-back L.A. vibe and specializes in choppy, chin-length bobs and those quintessential SoCal-inspired highlights.
But the best part? It holds the secret to Leto’s golden blond--and it’s not what you think. Leto gets his multifaceted color (or as Kusero calls it, “Hommebré”) from IGK’s signature Balayage service: a French highlighting technique in which color is painted onto your strands freestyle (i.e., no foils) to yield a subtle, sun-kissed look.
The salon’s signature Cut & Balayage begins at $300, and women’s haircuts start at $120. And while the waiting list for an appointment is pretty gnarly, if you call now, you’ll have glossy, Leto-worthy locks by Christmas.
