Remember the first time you tried a blowout bar and felt that dreamlike sensation of sitting back and making your hair someone else’s problem? Get ready to feel that way again...about your lashes.
The brand-new LashMaxx, on Travis near Uptown, is a chic, glam Abbe Fenimore-designed boutique with pops of pinks, shimmers of gold and lots of light. A few spa beds covered in crisp white linens line the space; Adele pumps out of the speakers.
The drill: Stretch out and close your (well cleaned) eyes while a trained aesthetician goes to work lightly applying extensions to your own eyelashes using a hypoallergenic adhesive. LashMaxx uses individual lashes--rather than the clusters of lashes favored at other (sketchier) studios in town--for a very realistic effect. After about 90 minutes, you wake up to fluttery eye fringe for under $200.
Have blonde or very light eyelashes? LashMaxx tints your natural lashes beforehand so that your falsies look legit.
The best part? Tossing that gunky mascara and smudgy eyeliner for up to four weeks.
