5 Nail Trends to Rock This Holiday Season
Go beyond bright-red polish
News flash: It’s holiday party season. And even though you have several outfits planned already (three cheers for the LBD!), don’t stop at your frock. Kick your manicure up a notch with these five nail trends guaranteed to make your eggnog holding fingers look as polished--and festive--as possible.
Dark Reds or Greens
A rich wine-inspired red, like Deborah Lippmann?s "Bitches Brew" organic polish ($18), is perfect for the season without looking like you're trying too hard. The same goes for a deep hunter green, like "Racing Green" by Butter London ($15). And both make an excellent base for, say, gold detailing?
Ask your technician to up the ante by adding gold detailing like a chevron pattern, an elongated cross, polka dots or stripes atop a nude or dark polish. Or do it at home: Use a gold Sharpie to draw over dry polish, one accent nail on each hand.
It’s the holiday equivalent of ballet pink. Go slightly shimmery here with "Baroque…But Still Shopping!" by OPI ($10), which also comes in a gel version, if that’s more your style ($15).
In what is sometimes called a half-moon manicure, you basically leave the bottom of your nails unpolished and cover the rest in your chosen color followed by a topcoat. Because sometimes less is more.
It’s a classic holiday move, and thankfully, because a dusting of glitter is right on trend. Try a one glimmering “party nail” (usually the ring finger).
