The NFL Is in Town
How to make the most of draft madness
The Super Bowl halftime show. In all honesty, that’s the only NFL moment we really care about. (See you there, Britney?)
But this week we can’t ignore the fact that the National Football League draft has swooped into town.
If you don’t have tickets to the main event at the Auditorium Theatre--or have no idea what “Winston or Mariota at number one” means--at least check out NFL Draft Town, happening in 900,000 square feet of Grant Park tomorrow through Saturday. Here’s what to do there:
Run, Jump, Kick and Leap Test your skills in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and broad jump in the Combine Corner, try a field-goal kick or soar like the great Walter Payton in the wind tunnel of the Sweetness Simulator.
Play Your Own Game Get a team of five people together for the big flag-football tournament at Hutchinson Field on Saturday. Pre-registration is required here.
Dine and Dance Grab drinks and bites from the Graham Elliot-curated Chi-Chef Kitchen and hear a free concert by Phillip Phillips and JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound on Saturday at 8 p.m.
NFL Draft Town runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on April 30 and May 1, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (followed by concert) on May 2 at Michigan Ave. and Congress Pkwy. Most activities are free.
