“UNREAL”

When to Watch: Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime

From the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer comes this buzzy new scripted series about what really goes on behind the scenes of a "reality show" (which is pretty much an exact replica of The Bachelor). Expect intrigue, drama and catfights as the show’s producers do their best to bring out the worst in all the contestants.

“TRUE DETECTIVE”

When to Watch: Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO

Season two brings a clean slate for the crime drama: McConaughey and Harrelson are out, and Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn are way in. The plot--which focuses on corruption in California’s transportation industry--is pretty intense. Watch the trailer to see Vince go all scary bad guy.

“THE ASTRONAUT WIVES CLUB”

When to Watch: Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC

Based on the book by Lily Koppel, this new and deliciously retro drama about the lives of women in 1960s America looks up our alley. Reviews are so far mixed, but c’mon--we’ve got a gaping Mad Men-shaped void and we intend to fill it.

“MISTRESSES”

When to Watch: Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC

Based on the hit BBC show, the soapy drama about the scandalous lives of four women navigating love, life and friendship returns for a third season, minus Alyssa Milano. Jennifer Esposito will attempt to fill her shoes, playing a high-powered fashion designer with a secret devious side. Dun dun dun.

“CATASTROPHE”

When to Watch: Anytime. The full series is available on Amazon Prime.

This popular British TV series about an American adman who gets an Irish woman pregnant during a business trip is making its Amazon Prime debut. The show's creator, Sharon Horgan, is known as the Tina Fey of the UK (and it costars Twitter celebrity Rob Delaney), so it's got to be funny. Low commitment…we like it.

“THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING”

When to Watch: Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on IFC, beginning July 8

Anyone else watch last summer’s The Spoils of Babylon? It was so absurdly silly, we hoped there’d be more. The sequel--a six-episode parody of a cheesy soap opera miniseries--pairs Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell as they navigate the underground jazz scene of the 1950s. Watch the trailer here.
