If you’re an East Coast hip-hop fan (and why wouldn’t you be?), you’ll love PRhyme. Even if you’re not an East Coast hip-hop fan (and seriously, why aren’t you?), but you just love music, you’ll love PRhyme.
The new duo is comprised of rap veterans DJ Premier (who’s produced albums for Nas and Jay-Z) and Royce Da 5’9” (a regular collaborator with Eminem). And their self-titled album has that old-school Brooklyn sound that even non-hip-hop fans will want to sway to.
Expect an easy nine songs, involving organ chords and electric guitars alongside a live drum kit. Oscar winner Common makes an appearance on the slow jam “Wishin’,” but it’s Ab-Soul and Mac Miller’s more upbeat “Dat Sound Good” that’s our personal favorite.
It doesn’t matter if Jay and Bey are abandoning us for the West Coast. You’re a ride-or-die New Yorker. Hence, you deserve some classic tunes.
