Visit a real Empire Records for its 20th anniversary
Guys. We have some outstanding Gen-X news.
This year, Empire Records turns 20.
OK, that actually just makes us feel old. But here’s the exciting part: To celebrate, Rough Trade, the massive record store in Williamsburg, is transforming itself into Empire Records for two days.
That’s right: It’s Rex Manning Day.
On April 8 and 9, stroll through the set, get a custom button made, hear some throwback tunes and watch the film. And while no one is confirmed yet, there's a good chance you'll get to brush shoulders with some of the cast (fingers crossed for some Zellweger action).
The whole thing is being put on by immersive-event group BBQ Films, which has thrown such shindigs as a Weekend at Bernie’s rager at Playland Motel and a Back to the Future “Enchantment Under the Sea” dance. So expect a total scene (in the best way possible).
Tickets are $42 and go on sale today at noon. Trust us: They’ll sell out faster than you can say Gin Blossoms.
