After many a long, sticky summer poring over the latest John Grisham or the juiciest Gillian Flynn, we have determined that there is a recipe for the perfect beach book.
It must be light but not moronic… gripping but not so all-encompassing as to be unputdownable. (A girl’s gotta take a break for cocktail hour, after all.) And more than anything, it needs to feel right alongside 95-degree weather and mildly inane Katy Perry songs. (No Scandinavian snowscapes, please.)
In the spirit of getting your summer read on, we’ve rounded up the 30 best beach books of all time, from old hits to new favorites.
Check out the list here--and don’t forget to reapply sunscreen every other chapter.
