3 Lessons We Learned from Baby George
The prince teaches us how to nail holiday photos
Well, one-year-old Prince George of Cambridge swooped in over the weekend to #breaktheinternet with his official 2014 holiday photos.
Surprising absolutely no one, he managed to pull off a perfect combination of class and good cheer. Our ripple-effect prediction? A sudden dip in the number of my-kid-screamed-on-Santa’s-lap Instagram posts.
Here are three lessons in good taste brought to us by this major photography event.
Use a simple background. You don’t need twinkling lights and evergreens to signal that it’s the holidays. Fine, George is shown at his very own castle. But the steps of your charming local library should do.
Capture candid expressions. Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, those big “say cheese!” smiles always look fake.
Lose the holiday sweaters. George’s Cath Kidston vest has nothing to do with Christmas--those figures are actually palace guards in traditional garb. (The piece is sold out, naturally, but here’s hoping it's back in stock soon.)
