Prince William & Kate Middleton Discuss How the Royal Family Is Holding Up Following Queen Elizabeth’s Death

Recently, Prince William and Kate Middleton made their first public outing following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and while there, the newly-titled Prince and Princess of Wales gave an update on the status of the royal family.

Although King Charles III recently announced that the family would remain in a period of mourning for a few days following the queen's state funeral, Prince William and Middleton wanted to show their gratitude toward all those who made the queen’s service possible. So, the couple embarked on a trip to Windsor Guildhall to thank the staff members, and as reported by Good Morning America, they said the family has been eased in this difficult time by all the support they've felt.

In the story from GMA, reporter Katie Kindelan said, “William reportedly told attendees that he still gets caught by moments of sadness following his grandmother's death, but said the outpouring of support from the public has buoyed the royal family amid their grief.”

All across the world, people have been mourning the loss of the late monarch, but the family has shown their gratitude, and the Prince and Princess of Wales even joined Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to greet mourners outside of Windsor Castle, only a couple days following the news of the queen's passing.

At this most recent appearance, Prince William also told the BBC, “If you flip it on its head, it is always very comforting that so many people care. It makes it a lot better...There are certain moments that catch you out. You are prepared for all, but certain moments catch you out.”

Middleton added, “It’s amazing how many people wanted to come and pay their respects.”

Following their visit to thank staff members, the Prince and Princess of Wales also shared a message of appreciation on Instagram, writing, “Thank you to all those who have worked so tirelessly to ensure that everyone visiting Windsor over the past two weeks has had a safe and positive experience. It was a pleasure to meet just a small number of staff and volunteers today - we are hugely grateful for all of your efforts.”

The attached video showed the couple arriving to Windsor Guildhall, where Middleton sported a black coatdress with large, gold buttons down the center, while Prince William opted for a navy blue suit.
