It's finally here! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to tell their story in a new Netflix docuseries, titled Harry & Meghan.
Today, Netflix released the first official teaser for the upcoming project. The video was uploaded to YouTube, as well as the streaming service's official Instagram page. The caption read, “Harry & Meghan. A Netflix Global Event. Coming soon, only on Netflix.” Check out the clip below.
The teaser begins with black-and-white images of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex flashing across the screen—ranging from their wedding to romantic California hikes. As these intimate photos appear, an audio plays in the background, starting with the voice of an interviewer, who asks: “Why did you want to make this documentary?”
Right on cue, Prince Harry says, “No one sees what's happening behind closed doors...I had to do everything I could to protect my family.”
Suddenly, the teaser shows full-color images of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as children. Markle says, “When the stakes are this high, doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?” *mic drop.*
The end of the teaser leaves the viewer in suspense, revealing that the Harry & Meghan doc is “coming soon,” but never offering an official release date.
This new docuseries is the first major project from the couple following the multi-million-dollar deal they signed with Netflix back in 2020. Previously, Markle had an animated children's series in the works, titled Pearl, but the series was canceled this past summer. Also, Prince Harry contributed to a docuseries called Rising Phoenix back in 2020, which told the history of the Paralympic Games.
Although Netflix didn't offer an official release date for Harry & Meghan, royal expert and Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie previously predicted that the docuseries will be released as soon as this month, saying that Spare (aka Prince Harry's memoir) will be “released one month after the Sussexes’ forthcoming Netflix docuseries drops.” And since Spare already has a set January 2023 release date, that would mean Harry & Meghan is set to arrive in December (this month).
Fingers crossed Harry & Meghan comes sooner rather than later.
