Katharine McPhee Reveals How She and David Foster Keep the Romance Alive

Katharine McPhee, 38, and her husband, David Foster, 73, have been married since 2019, but they're not letting the spark die down any time soon.

While catching up with Fox News Digital earlier this month, McPhee explained the ways in which she and her hubby maintain the romance in their relationship, and it all pretty much comes down to the basics.

“We just love being able to go to a movie and have dinner together,” the American Idol alum confessed. “There’s nothing extravagant about what we like to do. We just want to reconnect.”

McPhee went into further detail on the ways in which she and Foster are able to “reconnect” each day. “I love to just sit and have dinner with him,” she said. “I’ll have a glass of wine—he doesn’t drink. And we just talk. That’s our time together that we always make sure to have. We have a very hectic schedule so that’s really important to us, to carve out that time each day. And there’s always something to talk about whether it’s our family, our son—it’s our time.”

Part of the reason that their relationship works so well could be attributed to the fact that the couple worked together for years before tying the knot.

“We’ve been colleagues long before we were in a relationship together,” the Smash actress noted. The pair actually first met when McPhee was a contestant on American Idol, back in 2006.

McPhee said that their professional relationship was the catalyst for their closeness. “I’m very accustomed to being on stage with him, sharing a stage with him, being in the recording studio with him,” she said. “That was first before anything. That’s where we’re the most comfortable together. It doesn’t create any friction between us at all. There’s no kind of unknown between us. That’s where it all started for us.”

Now, the couple shares one child, Rennie David Foster, who was born in February 2021.

The pair is also set to release Christmas Songs on November 25, an EP composed of 7 covers of famous holiday hits.

The songstress adored working with Foster on the Christmas album, and she said, “I’m always marveling at his ability to have an idea in [his] head and manifest it into something. Working with David is the best because he knows exactly what he wants, what he needs from you. Being his wife and also his fan before we were even married, I have an immense respect for him…And it’s been so much fun. We had the summer together and thought about just releasing a few songs on social platforms…but the idea turned into so much more.”

Talk about couple goals.
