Blast from the Past: Here’s How to Make an Old-Fashioned Egg Cream

If fizzy, creamy root beer floats are your favorite dessert, we’re fairly certain you’ll love sipping on an old-fashioned egg cream. Don’t worry, this isn’t some Gaston-esque beverage with raw eggs and heavy whipping cream (ew); just milky, chocolatey goodness. Here’s how to make one at home.

What You Need:

  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • Seltzer
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons chocolate syrup

How to Make an Old-Fashioned Egg Cream:

Step 1: Pour the milk into a tall glass.

Step 2: Add seltzer almost to the top.

Step 3: Stir in the chocolate syrup.

Step 4: Continue to stir until well combined, then top it off with another splash of seltzer. Sip and transport back to 1950.
