How Adding an Egg to Your Oatmeal Just Might Blow Your Mind

Get ready for fluffy goodness

It’s breakfast time. What’s it going to be today: eggs or oatmeal? Here’s a crazy idea: both. Without further ado, our new favorite way to start the day.

What you need: ½ cup of oatmeal, 1 cracked egg, ¾ cup of any kind of milk (we prefer almond), a pinch of salt and a microwave-safe bowl.

What you do: Combine the oatmeal, milk, egg and salt in the bowl and heat on high for two minutes. Top with pretty much anything, from fruit and nut butter to spinach and avocado.

Why it’s great: Not only does the egg add about six grams of protein (meaning you’ll stay fuller longer), but it also makes the oats fluffier and even more delicious than usual. The consistency is similar to baked oatmeal (in that it's more solid than soupy), and you'll only notice a subtle scrambled egg-like taste if you don't add any toppings.

Just don’t try this with overnight oats.
